How to Fold an Origami Boat Hat

All 7 steps

Step 1. Start with a sheet a little taller than wide (5 by 6), white side up. Fold the top half down.
Step 2. Fold the top left corner down to the center line.
Step 3. Fold the top right corner down to the center line.
Step 4. Fold the bottom strip of the front layer up.
Step 5. Fold the other bottom strip up behind.
Step 6. Open the hat at the bottom, bring the two ends together and press it flat into a square.
Step 7. Fold the bottom point of the front layer up to the top, and the back one up behind.
Done. The boat hat (Murray and Rigney, Fun with Paper Folding, 1928). Open the bottom to wear it.
